What with the daily exposure to styling products, heat and also pollution – your hair tends to get very dry, dull and lifeless. The main reason for this is hair losing its natural moisture. And most people will go in for a hair spa at the salon to correct this. But why spend all that money when a few simple ingredients you already have in the house can do the trick for you? Have you ever wondered about how to make a home made hair mask? Well, not to worry, because we are teaching you just that here!
And you will of course also get to learn the best way to apply it!
So – we’ll start with what you need:
- Avocado – about half of a large one
- Banana – one medium sized
- Egg – 1
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp.
- Honey – 1 tbsp. (optional)
- Mayonnaise – 1 tbsp. (optional)
And now for the method to make and use it:
Step 1. To start, take the avocado out of the peel and mash it well using a spoon or a fork.
Step 2. Add to this the banana and use the fork to mash that in as well.
Step 3. Next add in the olive oil.
Step 4. Next add in the egg and mix again till the egg is properly broken up and incorporated. At this stage you can add in some honey and mayonnaise, particularly if you feel that your hair is dry to the point of being severely damaged.
Step 5. The next step is to make the mask really smooth. This is because any lumps in it now will be very difficult to wash off later. For this, add the mix to a blender and pulse for a minute or till you get a smooth paste.
Step 6. Now for the application. Start by laying a towel over your shoulders and securing it in front – this will prevent the hair mask from getting on your clothes.
Step 7. Start by applying the mask to the top of your head, continuing across your scalp. Be sure to massage it into your hair roots as you do.
Step 8. Next apply it to the rest of the hair, all the way down to the ends. Be sure to saturate the hair with the mask.
Step 9. Now use a shower cap or a plastic bag and secure it firmly over your whole hair. This allows the mask to work better and your hair also absorbs it completely.
At this stage the mask is all but done. You now need to give it 20 to 30 minutes, at the end of which time you just need to rinse the mask out with normal water. You do not need to use a shampoo after this – but if you want to, then go for a mild shampoo.
As for the deep conditioning effects of this hair mask – all the ingredients used are great for your hair! They all are rich in either proteins or vitamins and they all work wonders to moisturize both your scalp and your hair. And when hair is rough or damaged from heat or styling, moisturization is what it needs the most!
